Targeted Pain Relief: When and How to Recommend Topical Analgesics

$0.00

Description

This course explores the effective and safe use of topical analgesics for localized pain management. Participants will review the pharmacological mechanisms of key active ingredients such as NSAIDs, menthol, methyl salicylate, lidocaine, and capsaicin. The session highlights the comparative benefits of topical versus oral analgesics, including reduced systemic absorption, lower risk of adverse events, and fewer drug–drug interactions. Evidence from clinical studies will be presented to demonstrate efficacy across acute and chronic pain conditions, such as sprains, osteoarthritis, and neuropathic pain. Practical considerations will also be covered, including product selection, counseling strategies, and patient safety, enabling learners to integrate topical analgesics confidently into practice.
