Roombas have officially become microscopic. Researchers have built tiny robotic cleaners<\/a> that can be steered through liquid using nothing but light, sweeping up bacteria as they go. And tiny really does mean tiny: the nanorobots are smaller than a single bacterium<\/b> and roughly 50 times smaller than the width of a human hair. By changing the polarization of a laser, researchers can make them turn, travel along precise routes and use heat-generated forces to attract nearby bacteria. In experiments, the little cleaners rounded up E. coli<\/i> and Staphylococcus<\/i>, carried surprisingly large bacterial clusters around and then released their haul when the light was switched off. The technology is still firmly in the laboratory, but researchers say it could eventually help scientists manipulate cells and microbes at scales that are otherwise extremely difficult to reach. Somewhere, a Roomba just looked at its career prospects and got nervous.<\/p>\n

A small JAMA Network Open<\/a><\/i> trial<\/a> found about 1 in 3 older men taking tamsulosin had little or no symptom benefit<\/b>, despite many believing the drug was helping. With just 30 participants attempting the full protocol, the findings aren’t practice-changing, but they do raise a useful deprescribing question: does that longstanding tamsulosin prescription still need to be there?<\/p>\n

2: Semaglutide Keeps Appetite Down<\/b><\/p>\n

A 60-week randomized trial<\/a> found semaglutide’s appetite effects may have staying power. Adults receiving semaglutide 2.4 mg consumed roughly 24% to 30% fewer calories than those taking placebo<\/b> at follow-ups through week 60. The findings suggest semaglutide’s effects on food intake persist well beyond the early months of treatment, even as weight loss begins to plateau.<\/p>\n

3: CagriSema Makes Its Case in Diabetes<\/b><\/p>\n

The phase 3a REIMAGINE 1 trial<\/a> tested CagriSema, combining cagrilintide with semaglutide, in adults with type 2 diabetes. After 40 weeks, the higher dose cut HbA1c by about 1.8 percentage points and body weight by 13.8%<\/b>, significantly outperforming placebo. CagriSema remains investigational, but combining GLP-1 and amylin activity could be one to watch.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
